Sometimes you can find photos on Google Maps that are incorrectly rotated. This is one of the reasons you regularly should review your photo contributions. This issue is very easy to spot.
Find Google's official statement about rotated photos here: Photo Rule #14 (scroll down and click on 14: Always right rotation).
90-degrees rotation to the left is not OKAY-
90-degrees rotation to the right is not OKAY!
Up-side-down is certainly not OKAY!
A few mobile phones stores orientation data incorrectly in the image files. This can cause Google Maps to show your photos incorrectly rotated even though they look perfect on your phone. You can read more about this here.
If you experience this problem, you can fix the orientation by saving the image in Google Photos.
Unfortunately, Google does not provide tools to edit the rotation of photos after uploading to Maps. So you need to rotate your image locally or in Google Photos before deleting the old copy on Google Maps and uploading the new and improved copy. You will lose the views, so it better to fix the problem as quickly as possible.
The only thing you can do is to regularly check your list of recently uploaded photos. While checking your newest photo contributions there are many other issues you also can check. Check out Feedback from your list of new pics.
The next issue is about how zoomed in or out your Google Maps should be. Just hit the blue "Suggested next page" button.
