Uploading the 250 images to Google Maps took about 4 hours.
Having your pics on Google Photos gives you the freedom to use any device to link each photo to its correct place on the map. I used my desktop since it seems easier to search and find the places. Also, typing is a lot faster for me on the desktop. But the main reason for taking so long is the uploading time and the fact that I combine the uploading with editing and cleaning the places on the map. Some of the businesses are not yet on the maps. Then I need to gather the necessary info to create the new place. This includes checking if they have a website or Facebook page. Also, I look for the opening hours in my picture and online. Selecting the most relevant category also takes a bit of time.
While being zoomed in all the way, I also have a chance to spot duplicates to be removed or merged. And very often, you will see that the map marker is not placed at the entrance to the shop. Then I suggest an edit to fix that.
Finally, I scan for issues in the business names. Many stores write their name in All CAPS, add keywords in the hope that more customers will find them, or they add a URL, geographic info, or some marketing slogans. While uploading the pictures to 125 places, I found 25 names that needed to be edited.
Below is a list of all the edits done while uploading the pictures from Lyngby High street.
According to the emails from Google Maps, these are the edits I made while uploading 125 pictures:
You don't need to combine uploading with editing and cleaning the map. But you might need to add a few new places.
I find it relaxing and oddly satisfying to combine the two. You have a lot of the information needed hiding in your photos or might remember relevant facts from just having been to the places.

Working with 250 pics in one batch is not super easy because you have to do a lot of scrolling to reach the next image. Making smaller batches of maybe 50 images can speed up this process considerably. This can be done by making shorter photo walks but also by suspending the uploading to Google Photos for every 50 pics or so before uploading the next batch.
This is the end of the Upload-topic. The next and final topic is Getting feedback. Which is possibly the topic that can advance your photography skills the most. Click/tap "Suggested next page" below to get started. Enjoy!
