To the left is the raw photo from the camera. Right is the cropped image. Cropping removed a lot of unimportant asphalt in the foreground. Cropping made the image more zoomed in on the storefront, and the format was made relatively wider than the original.
Cropping is different from Framing. Framing is done while shooting, and Cropping is done later while processing your images. You need good framing to be able to make the perfect cropping while processing your images.

Notice how the white storefront looks whiter and more bright in the image to the right. Dark areas look a bit darker and the grey clouds in the sky are gone.
