Hi, frends and collegues,
The tutorial is right here! Just start using the menu to the left (desktop) or find the menu under the ≡-icon in the top left corner. This page will explain the different ways you can navigate the tutorial. It's a good place to start to get an overview of the pages. But please read this page to the end before you begin.
I urge you to not share links to this tutorial before it goes public.
I would love to give you credit by adding you to the list of reviewers found here. If you want to be on the list please provide a link and a country to be listed with your name. And which name/username you want me to use.
As you can easily see my mother tongue is not English, and I can leave out a word here and there. So, don't hold back on correcting my English and spelling. The more the better!
I recommend that you make a Google Docs or Word document. Make headings that refer to the relevant page numbers like "1.4" at the top of this page - no need to write the full title. Please copy-paste the text that needs to be corrected to your document and make your corrections. If you underline or color only the corrections I can easily spot them.
If you would like to proofread the quizzes you can find a list of all quizzes on the How to navigate-page or review the pdf-files provided here. It is easier to use the pdf-files since you do not have to make both correct and wrong answers to see both the positive and negative feedback in the final exam. Corrections can be saved as notes in the pdf-files or added to the document with other comments. Whichever is easier for you.
You do not need to be polite while typing your comments. I like honest, to-the-point, and critical comments and I do not easily get offended ;-)
Please indicate the platform you have been reviewing: Mobile, Tablet, Android/IOS, or Desktop. It might be easier to review and make comments if you use 2 devices in parallel.
Send your word document or the link to your Google Document to mm@morten.me and please attach pdf-files if you added notes or corrections to them.
Stupid spelling mistakes, missing words, etc.
Sorry, but my first language is not English (as you can tell!) I aim for US English rather than UK or AUS-English. Please feel free to point out any improvements to the text. The goal is not a formal text or a super correct text. Preferably it should be light (entertaining where possible) and keep in mind that the target group is fellow local guides - many of whom are also not native English speakers. So, we need to keep the language simple and avoid words that will be difficult for a lot of local guides.
Photography substance blunders
I would love to be corrected if you see something wrong related to Photography. I am a true self-taught expert! Ha-ha!
Errors related to rules and guidelines for Local Guides
If you see my interpretation of the rules being slightly off or wrong, please make comments. This is particularly relevant for the Know the rules module.
Overlap or unnecessary repetitions
I'm probably blind to spotting these myself ;-)
Overdoing it or being condescending
This is a problem. Please mark any signs of this and suggest improvements where possible.
Layout and navigation
Feel free to suggest any improvements to the videos and any illustrations. Also, please alert me if you see opportunities to shorten or move parts to sub-pages that not everyone needs to see.
Any overarching or general comments are of course also very welcome. It is too boring? Too technical? Too difficult? Too long? Are there parts that are not relevant for Local Guides? Could you pass the Final Exam? Did you learn something new?
Besides the actual tutorial, I am also working on a plan for grabbing the attention of Local Guides who might be interested in knowing about the tutorial and using it. Your input or help on this will be much appreciated also.
You may see the text "#soon2come". This is just a reminder for me to add missing parts that can only be added later.
If you decide to dig deep in reviewing an area or aspect, feel free to reach out first so I can check if others plan to do the same.
This tutorial is elaborate and covers several aspects. Please feel free to pick and choose the pages you are interested in instead of trying to review the entire tutorial. Or pick a random place to start reviewing. Or reach out and I will let you know which parts are currently in most need of proofreading.
You could start by taking the Final exam to get an overview of the content. After the exam, you get feedback that will point you to the topics you need to study! Or you could take a look at the Cheat Sheets and let them guide you to the pages of interest to you. I believe the topic Getting feedback contains some news also to experienced photographers.
Thank you
PS: I keep a list of "Known issues / To-do list". You can find it here.
