In this image, I was able to hide my reflection by not standing straight across from the shop with the red door. If I had panned right to center the shop in the frame while shooting the horizontal lines would also have been converging. Because I anticipated the later crop and my phone takes very high resolutions shots this was OK. Having the store off to the right will be fixed while cropping.
So by removing a lot more on the left side of the shop is centered in the wider format.
So having cropping in mind gives you more flexibility when shooting. This is the resulting tight and straight shot even though we took the shot far from the sweet spot.
Without manually cropping to the wider format and centering the auto-crop would have resulted in this badly cropped image. Maps users' eyes could be all over when seeing this image.
